Senior Frontend Developer
Based in Cambridge, Intellegens has developed a unique deep learning method to exploit sparse and noisy data that is being applied to the next generation of material and chemical design software. We are working with scientists to make new materials and chemicals cheaper, stronger, quicker, and more environmentally friendly. The underlying machine learning technique is generic and can be applied to a wide variety of further domains such as finance, retail, and the Internet of Things.
Intellegens’ stack includes a kubernetes application composed of several Docker containers including an API, written in Python, a data ingestion pipeline in a Postgres database, a Redis queue system, and the core machine learning algorithm (Alchemite). The web application is a React-Redux frontend following a monoroepo architecture along with a GraphQL backend to handle the persistence layer.
The main challenge Intellegens is facing is to build an easy to use web user interface that allows scientific users, without a strong data science background, to upload datasets, automatically create the best possible models and then provide tools to use the models for predictions, optimisation problems and analysis.
With this in mind, Intellegens is looking for a Senior Frontend Developer whose main task will be to handle the above challenges. You will be expected to have strong React and testing skills plus knowledge of design systems and the ability to make technology decisions and contribute to product strategy.
You will be joining a talented group of 15 people, from which 8 are software engineers, either in Cambridge or remote. Within the frontend team, there is not a strict separation between frontend and backend engineers. This cross-functionality gives you a unique opportunity to learn cutting edge technologies but also means you will be expected to proactively add value to the team’s roadmap. The team follows Scrum and holds daily standups and biweekly sprint plannings.
The salary range will be between £30,000 and £45,000, depending on your experience and skills as well as equity in the company.
